My wife loves to shop, she loves to buy even more but that’s a different story.  I’m not a shopper, but there are times throughout the year that I like to sneak off to the sporting goods store to check out the latest hunting supplies for dogs.  Yep, I’m a bird hunter and I also enjoy field training my dogs so I really enjoy seeing what’s HOT in the world of hunting supplies for dogs.

Then it’s decision time.  I’ll do the math and decide how bad I really what whatever it is I have my eye on.  Sometimes I’ll start saving in the Spring so I can pick up my new prize mid-summer, in time to learn how to use it before bird season.  Or just go ahead and buy it and get the grief from my wife out of the way so that when I pull it out in the fall, it’ll be old news.  That’s what I do.  It isn’t the old, “It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission,” because you aren’t going to get either.  It’s just the way it is.

Some basic items such as a water bowl, portable dog treat and food containers, dog collars, harnesses and leashes.  For hot sunny days you may need a pup tent for shade, if you’re going to the lake or beach throw in a life jacket for your dog, and if you have a small dog that may not be able to go for a long walk or jog you may consider bringing along a dog stroller.

As for toys, the sky’s the limit. Toys that fling, fly, shoot, toss, tug, spin, float, squirt, and squeak are the whole point of getting outdoors for some fun.

As you can see, some thought needs to be given to the dog supplies you pack for your trip outdoors this summer with your favorite four legged friend.
